One burner will not light. An electric element stays cold. Your induction cooktop flashes an error instead of heating the pan. Appliance Gasket provides cooktop repair across Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and nearby Maryland suburbs.
Tell us whether the unit is gas, electric, or induction and whether one cooking zone or the whole surface is affected. Send the model number if available so we can confirm support and discuss the next step.
Your cooktop should be assessed for its cooking technology and installation, not just the brand on the glass. Here is how we approach your service request.
We ask which cooking zone fails and how it behaves. Those details help distinguish an ignition complaint from an element, control, or cookware-detection problem before the repair is scoped.
An oven underneath, fixed cabinetry, or a downdraft system can affect access. We ask about the installation when booking so important access details are not left until the visit.
You receive a quote before approved work begins. For a larger glass or electronics repair, you can consider the proposed cost and the condition of the cooktop before deciding.
Call or text your model, affected zone, and ZIP code to one local contact. We confirm model support and discuss scheduling across our DC, Northern Virginia, and nearby Maryland service area.
A cooktop is installed in the counter independently of an oven. Its cabinet access, controls, and connections can differ from a freestanding range. Tell us what sits underneath it, such as drawers or a wall oven, and whether the installation has unusual access restrictions.
You do not need to lift the cooktop or remove cabinetry before contacting us. A photo of the cooking surface and a description of the fault are enough to start your service request.
Tell us whether the problem affects one burner or every burner, and if it started after cleaning or a spill. The ignition system, burner condition, controls, and supply-related issues need to be distinguished. Replacing an igniter without confirming the cause may not address the complaint.
If you smell gas, stop troubleshooting, leave the area, and call 911 and your gas utility from a safe location. Do not keep trying to light the burner or wait for an online service response.
A cold element and a cooking zone that does not respond to its setting require different checks. Depending on the design, the element, switching, sensing, or electronic controls may be involved. Tell us whether the affected zone is intermittent or consistently fails.
Induction cooking requires compatible cookware and the correct placement for the model. A pan-detection message does not by itself prove that the cooktop’s power module has failed. Let us know if a previously working pan now fails on one zone or if different pans are affected across the surface.
Photograph the message or symbol and check the owner’s manual for ordinary control-lock settings. Persistent faults need model-specific assessment. Avoid repeatedly resetting the appliance when the same error returns.
Stop using a cooktop with cracked glass and arrange an assessment. Surface replacement, if appropriate, requires a compatible part and a comparison of the repair with the condition and value of the unit. Do not use a temporary patch as a cooking surface.
Gas ignition, radiant electric elements, and induction electronics operate differently. We start with the cooktop’s design and the symptom you report so the proposed work addresses the relevant system.
Our appliance service covers brands such as GE, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Samsung, LG, Bosch, Thermador, Viking, and Miele. Send the exact cooktop model so we can confirm support and assess its parts requirements.
For premium or integrated equipment, our specialty and high-end appliance services provide a related service route. Please mention unusual controls, downdraft ventilation, or linked oven configurations before the visit is arranged.
The proposed repair depends on the fault, the compatible part, and access to the unit. A failed switch and a complete glass or electronics assembly can present very different repair decisions.
We provide a repair quote before approved work starts. Ask about the diagnostic visit charge and the applicable parts-and-labor terms when booking. Model details and photos can support the discussion, but they do not replace the testing needed for many electrical or ignition problems.
If the issue involves the household circuit or gas supply rather than the appliance, additional trade work may be required and should be scoped separately.
Want to check service suitability? Send your cooktop model and the affected zone, along with your ZIP code.
We serve Washington DC and communities including Falls Church, McLean, Fairfax, Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Rockville. Contact us with your ZIP code to confirm the appointment options for your location.
For condos and apartments, mention building access and work restrictions. If your cooking surface sits on top of a freestanding oven, describe the appliance as a range so we can plan the correct service. Our kitchen appliance services cover related cooking equipment.
Not always. Some induction sounds vary with the cookware and power setting. Check your model’s guidance and report a new or unusually loud sound, especially if it occurs with an error or loss of heat. A short recording can help describe the complaint without repeating an unsafe test.
It can remain on while the surface cools, which is a normal safety function on many models. Do not touch the surface to test it. If the indicator behaves differently from the owner’s manual or remains on after the appliance has fully cooled, report that separately from a heating fault.
Sometimes a compatible knob is all that is needed, but damage to the shaft or control beneath it changes the repair. Send a photo and the model number. Do not force a substitute knob onto the control or use pliers to operate it.
Ask which part is proposed for your model before approving the quote. Manufacturer and compatible replacement options, availability, and warranty terms can differ. Do not assume a part is original-manufacturer equipment unless that is stated in the repair scope.
Share the invoice, replaced part, and whether the original symptom changed. That history can help avoid repeating an assumption that did not solve the problem. Also check any existing repair warranty before authorizing a separate paid visit.
Mention both appliances when you call, with each model and symptom. We can check whether the work can be scheduled together and explain the diagnostic charges. A second appliance is not automatically included in a single-appliance booking.
Clear the cooking surface and allow it to cool before the appointment. For an induction complaint, keep the affected cookware nearby so you can identify it. Do not lift the cooktop, disconnect it, or move an oven underneath it yourself.
You should not have to keep planning meals around a burner that will not work. Call Appliance Gasket at (202) 200-8501 and tell us which cooking zone has failed, your cooktop model, and your ZIP code. We will confirm support and discuss an appointment for your home.
Start with the symptom, not a guess at an expensive replacement part. Have the problem assessed, review the repair quote, and decide on the work with a clearer picture of your options.
